The whole sky will burn
I will set everything alight
I will carry my head
In hands made of light
They have been eaten through by moths
There are moths in this world
Moths
That gnaw their way
Through hands into light
Vladimíra Čerepková,
Ryba k rybě mluví III (Fish Speaks to Fish III)
For a long time, I have been interested in the role art can play in a world that is confronted daily with the reality of ongoing crises. | I ask myself what my capacity as an artist is to engage with what is happening around me. | I want to understand art as a form of labour that carries meaning. | At the same time, I want to speak openly about work that, under the pressure of external forces, has disintegrated into a set of meaningless actions – work torn from its context, fragmented into automated movements and interchangeable tasks. | Work that has nowhere to turn, that does not cease and does not rest. | I would like to create a situation in which the viewer might say: “Yes, this is how I feel. This is what it is like for me. It seems I am not alone in this. It seems I am not alone. Someone perceives this. I am not completely invisible.” | To challenge the feeling of being entirely overlooked. | Pavla Sceranková, 2025
The second solo project at 8smička continues the SÓLO exhibition series and this time presents the artist Pavla Sceranková. Several of the artworks on display were created specifically for this exhibition.
